5 Days Kuching + Ukom Longhouse (Borneo)

Day 1: Arrival + City Tour

Meet and greet upon arrival at Kuching International Airport.

Proceed for the Kuching City Tour (3 hours) which takes you through historic attraction and stops including the Tua Pek Kong Temple, the Sarawak Museum and the Cat Museum, passing the Golden-Domed City Mosque, the Charles Brooke Monument, the Pavilion, the Square Tower, the Court House and the old Post Office.

After the tour, transfer to hotel for check in.

Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 2: Kuching - Ukom Longhouse (B/L/D)

After breakfast, take a 2-hour drive to Batang Ai passing scenic countryside consisting of quaint little towns, villages, paddy fields, pepper and oil palm plantations interspersed with secondary and virgin jungle. Stop for lunch at Lachau, a small town on the way to Batang Ai Hydro Lake. Take a short boat ride before reaching Ukom Longhouse. Check in to the traditional longhouse dormitory styled accommodation.

In the evening, participate in cooking the popular dish called “Manok Pansoh” (bamboo chicken) and join the tribes for dinner. After dinner, sip a glass or two of “Tuak” (rice wine) and watch a short cultural performance. The Ibans are fun-loving people, and love to have visitors joining in whatever activities going on at the longhouse.

Overnight stay at Ukom Longhouse.

Day 3: Ukom Longhouse (B/L/D)

After breakfast, watch a blowpipe demonstration and experience it yourself by shooting at the target. Then join the men for a nearby hunting & crop harvest trip.

After lunch, continue to learn of the daily lives of the Iban people, may it be pounding of harvested paddy, packing of peppers, weaving, breading or mending of fishing nets.

Dinner and overnight at the longhouse.

Day 4: Ukom Longhouse - Kuching (B/L)

After breakfast, transfer back to Kuching via the same route. Lunch en-route.

The rest of the day is free at leisure.

Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 5: Departure Transfer (B)

Breakfast at the hotel.

Check out and transfer to Kuching International Airport for your departure flight.
